Afternoon in Sausalito
the restaurant is crowded
the baby girl no more than two stands on the chair
the mother
too attractive to be ignored
the child
also craving the spotlight
a glass of milk is spilled
quite accidentally
a little hand is slapped
and again
no explanation
the pitiful wail of bewilderment
the mother will ask
where did I go wrong
there
is
no
beginning
