Bobby Darin and Annette Funicello

Annette Funicello was a friend of Bobby Darin. In her autobiography, "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes", she writes about Bobbys relationship with Connie Francis in the late 1950s. Annette would frequently run into them at the "in" place in Manhattan, The Harwyn Club. "Connie and Bobby were at the time very deeply in love," Annette said. "..they were at the peak of their careers, but whenever I saw them together, it was obvious that they cared more about each other than anything else. At one of Connie's club dates in Los Angeles, I happened to glimpse Bobby in the audience. From the look on his face, he was not only in love with but so proud of Connie."

Annette was quoted as saying that she felt Bobby was "never as appreciated as he deserved to be."
