" You're just too good to be true...Can't take my eyes off of you !!!"

As stated in the press release from Albert J. Nader

Chairman of Questar :

"Once regarded as the successor to Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin set his own unique stamp on the entertainment industry. Despite a failing heart, he released a string of successful movies, TV shows, and of course, songs. From his Grammy win in 1959 to his 1990 induction into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Darin stands among the great American icons of music.

"His legacy continues with the release of Questar's long-anticipated Bobby Darin: Mack is Back! DVD ( and VHS, which does not include the DVD enhancements). For the first time, viewers get an up close and personal look at Darin in his last TV concert - a concert that was never aired. Presented in its original unedited format, audiences can experience the show in real-time from the front row, as if they were there. Recorded in 1973, the vibrant color camera-work, lighting and audio production of NBC studios appear as current as Mr. Darin's timeless appeal.

"Throughout the 70-minute recording, Bobby belts out his biggest hits. And for DVD owners, the show doesn't end there! Questar is proud to deliver the product thousands of Bobby Darin fans have been waiting for—a DVD that goes beyond the stage, with a behind-the-scenes story of Darin's life.

"Featuring family photographs and never-before-released home movies ( Editor's Note: The unreleased 1966 Coconut Grove documentary) of Bobby with his wife Sandra Dee and their son Dodd, the DVD offers insight into the personal side of this versatile showman.(Editor's Note: DVD enhancements are an extra 52 minutes!!!) It also follows his professional appearances with seldom-seen TV footage of The Andy Williams and Flip Wilson Shows. Rare Hollywood trailers of his early feature films Come September and Pressure Point are included as well as commentary about Darin's Oscar- nominated role in Captain Newman, M.D. by the film's star Gregory Peck. Key enhancements such as an interactive discography make the DVD an invaluable source on the Darin era.

"With the resurgence of retro-lounge music, Bobby Darin is as popular now as ever before. A lot of people are buying Bobby Darin records again, which reflects not only his timeless talent , but also the recent revival of swing and lounge music. In the end , the program will appeal to both older Bobby Darin fans and younger people attracted to his cool, retro style."
