Bobby Darin
I've Got a Secret
Throughout the month of February,
Mr. Darin was the National Ambassador
for the Heart Association. He promoted the charity by appearing on
the game show I've Got A Secret on
February 17, 1964.
Bobby was a guest with a secret. He stumped the panel by playing a record with him singing "All By Myself" in a duet with a mystery singer. The panel,
(Bill Cullen, Betsy Palmer, Henry Morgan and Bess Myerson)
had a hard time figuring out who it was, and it turned out to be Mr. Darin himself, the voice track had been
speeded up. He then had a demonstration of how records could be speeded up or slowed down and sound very different, by slowing down or speeding up the turntable. (Didn't we do this too, as kids, with our records?) The panel then had to guess who was singing on different records that were played this way.
