Bobby Darin
Well Wishes from His Friends
On August 7, 1959, Bobby Darin opened at the Legendary
Cloister nightclub In LA. To wish him luck, his friends from Csida-Grean Associates back in Manhattan
made a short recording which was sent to him on opening night.
It was recorded in Joe Csidas office.
The friends heard on the recording included:
Harriet ("Not yet Harriet!") Wasser, who organized the get-together; Joe Csida,
Bobby's former manager; Ed Burton, Bobby's former manager and "bowling instructor;" Frank Barone, Bobby's attorney; Bob
(Hutch) Davie, a composer and arranger for the agency; Judy Tannen, a friend and associate of Steve and Eydie;
Jerry Weintrab, who
went on to produce numerous movies in Hollywood; Lois, a secretary for the agency; Bob Steinberg, an accountant at the agency; fellow
teen idol and friend
Jimmie Rodgers and close friend and classmate
Don Kirshner
and his wife Sheila.
"A star is born ..."
