Hi Dodd,
Happy Birthday! I'm so glad to have this opportunity to write to you. I became a big fan of your Dad's back in 1972 when he was making a comeback. I was only 13 and I thought he was the best. I was listening to Bobby Darin records and all my friends wer
listening to whoever was popular at that time (I can't even remember). His records were hard to find but I found a record shop that sold old albums and my Mom would take me and that's how I got my collection.I've listened to his music all these years. (N
w I have my kids listening to it). It was always my dream to see him in person but it was not to be. His passing was a great loss for you and his many fans. I read your book a couple of years ago and I recently read his other biography "Borrowed Time". My
interest in Bobby Darin has never ended. I know you can't answer all these E-Mails but if you can I would appreciate hearing from you. Enjoy your birthday!

Dear Dodd,
This seems like a good opportunity for me to say thank you for your moving book "Dream Lovers". I picked it up after seeing "Beyond the Song" on public TV and devoured it in one night. The book is quite simply an inspiration. I thank you and your Mother f
r your honesty and your insights. I hope your Mom is - and will be - well and happy for ever! She deserves it. As for your Dad - God rest his soul. There never will be another Bobby Darin.
Happy Birthday to you and Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Bobby was the love of my life, my first love, in 1961 when I was 12 and saw Come September. It was also the first year I had a crush on a "real" boy, and Bobby's love songs were there for me in my ups and downs. I saw him perform three times, first at the
Moulin Rouge in Hollywood in around 1962, then, at the Coconut Grove in Hollywood, probably in '63, and last, at the Flamingo Hotel in Vegas, also probably '63. At the Moulin Rouge, the fans were allowed to go backstage after the wonderful show and have t
eir picture made with him. I spoke to him about something I'd read about him in the paper, that he had hurt his finger in a freak accident. He was friendly and warm, he showed me his finger, the scar on it. He was personal. He was so special. I had saved
oney in my piggy bank for our trip to the Flamingo Hotel performance, to tip the maitre d so I could get a good seat. I didn't get a great seat, but after the show, the maitre d told us (me and my parents) to come with him. He took us backstage, and Bobby
had agreed to let us come back and meet him. There were no other fans, just me and my parents. He made small talk with my dad. He was just so warm and approachable. He really liked people, he really cared about people. I feel so lucky that of all the movi
stars and teen idols I could've gotten hung up on, it turned out to be him. Dodd, happy birthday. I remember the day you were born. And thank you for the wonderful book you wrote about your parents. I was deeply moved by it. Wow, this internet/web stuff
s great.

Happy Birthday Dodd! Caught the "Beyond" show tonite and loved it. Your dad did what Sinatra could not: He brought big band swing to teenagers again. As a teen who played swing in 1960, I couldn't believe my ears when Bobby switched to the big band so
nd, and everybody was loving it! I still play swing. Wish I had an arrangement of Beyond the Sea. This show is my first glimpse into his and your life. Are you in music? - Larry

Dear Dodd,
Dec. 16th, Happy Birthday!
I was a hugh fan of your Dad's from the beginning of his career in the late 50's.
I collected all of his records and literally wore them out playing them constantly.
I saw him at the Hollywood Bowl when he appeared with Dick Clark (I was just a kid). He left left us much too soon, but what an impact he did leave.
Sincerely,

Well, Dodd, thanks to wonderful changes in the
world of technology, I feel privileged to be
able to communicate with the son of two of my
favourite stars from the sixties. Your mom's
character "Tammy" is one of my all time favourites
and I still hum the tune from the movie and it
always gives me a good feeling. Your dad's
"Mack the Knife" defined the character for me and
helped me discover Kurt Weill and "The Threepenny Opera". Bobby Darrin's version is the
definitive version as far as I'm concerned.
Have a great birthday!

Dear Dodd,
I'm so happy I can communicate with you. I saw you on Channel 28 last night, and I "looked you up on the internet."
I love your dad's songs. I was young when they first came out. I remember hearing "Splish
Splash" on the radio. I loved it! I eagerly awaited all your dad's new songs after that. The song that is among my all-time favorites is "If I were a carpenter." The song and lyrics are just beautiful.
I'm sure there are lots of people like me who would like to hear more about your dad. That's why I was so happy to see the documentary, and see you on Channel 28. You seem like such a wonderful person. Bobby couldn't be prouder of you.
I think Entertainment Tonight should cover the opening of your new restaurant "Dream Car." Where is the restaurant going to be? I'd love to go there. I live in Los Angeles.
I read your book "Dream Lovers." Your mother is so sweet and beautiful. Please give her my love (from a fan she might not have known she had - me.)
I wish you and your mom and your family all the love and happiness in the world.
I am glad you are out there "perpetuating your dad's memory" as you said because I sure want his memory perpetuated!
Thank you for that.
My best wished and love.
