Bobby Darin starred in the musical "State Fair".This film was released in April of 1962 and also starred Ann-Margret, Pat Boone,Pamela Tiffin, Tom Ewell and Alice Faye.
This film was panned by the critics, however the film and the soundtrack on Dot records were commercially successful. Bobby played a smooth talking TV announcer who fell in love with a naive country girl(Pamela Tiffin).
Bobby sang "This Isn't Heaven" (which is on the Rhino box set AS LONG AS I'M SINGIN'..THE BOBBY DARIN COLLECTION") and "A Grand Night For Singing" in the film. In 1999,Varese Sarabande released the Soundtrack of the film.
"STATE FAIR" was at one time available on home video from Fox, but appears to be discontinued. ( You can find a copy of it at ebay.com but it goes for a high price.)The film has shown up on many cable movie stations such as AMC and ENCORE in the past, but is now
being shown on the
Fox Movie Channel until the end of the year 2000.
