Bobby Mentioned on PBS Special "That's Amore!"

Bobby was featured as part of a PBS pledge special called “That’s Amore!  Italian-American Favorites in Music.” The special was a tribute to well-known singers/entertainers who were of Italian heritage or who sang songs that had that Italian feel, such as BD, Connie Francis, Perry Como, Julius La Rosa, and others. BD’s segment featured him singing “Mack the Knife. The show was hosted by Danny Aiello, who has an album coming out and who said during the show that BD was a contemporary of his and was the biggest influence on his style of singing.   If you called the PBS station during one of the breaks, you could also get a 3-CD set of the same name.   BD’s song “Beyond the Sea” is on that CD.

Thanks to Mandy Turner for this information.

Update 3/30/08: Bobby's Music and Beyond ...

EXCITING NEWS!

Beyond the Song Producers participate in Q/A Session with our Darinfan members!
Jason Cilo, one of the BTS producers, contacted us and offered his and Henry Astor's assistance in sharing their insights into the making of this film.  Of course we were thrilled at the opportunity! BTS, which originally aired on PBS in 1998, was an honest, accurate and heartwarming portrayal of Bobby. To this day, it is still considered to be a favorite with those who respected him and appreciated his work.
The response from Bobby's fans was overwhelming.

Click HERE to see the delightful and provocatve "conversation."

We are extremely grateful to Jason and Henry for taking the time to share
their thoughts on the making of this fabulous program.
