For Sandra Dee---
Success is Easy

This is really the land of opportunity. Where else can you find a girl of 20 who makes more money than a dozen bank presidents, bought her own mansion when she was 17, has a handsome car and a 12-thousand dollar mink coat?
Sandra Dee, born in Bayonne NJ has all this, and her career in motion pictures has scarcely begun. She has been making mint since she was 12 years old, when she became a Conover model in New York City. In one year as a model she earned 78 thousand dollars. Then along came Hollywood and things got even better.
Sandra became one of those fortunate young actors who had no awkward age. She was able to shift gears right through adolescence and into maturity without any trouble. She was lucky too, in having a photogenic face that could play a tremendously wide age range.
"At one time," Sandra recalls, "two pictures of me were in the same magazine. In one shot I was twelve year old problem child and in the other I was a 21 year old mother with a baby. My real age at the time was 14."
Sandra was then making some appearances on TV network dramas between modeling jobs, and she was not yet 15 when she was brought to Hollywood for a screen test.
She passed it, and was co-starred in one of Universal-International 's important films of 1957, "The Restless Years".
Her studio quickly cast her as a co-star with June Allyson and Jeff Chandler in "A Stranger In My Arms", and then suddenly , other studios bid for her services.
Metro borrowed her for two quick films in succession-- to play the young sister in the James Michener story, "Until They Sail" and to co-star in "The Reluctant Debutante". Columbia then had Sandra on a loan out for "Gidget".
Sandra was married nearly two years ago to another young show business whiz, Bobby Darin. And now, in her next picture for Universal, she will co-star with Bobby in a sophisticated comedy called "If A Man Answers".
Young Miss Dee still has the toy pomeranian she used to carry around in New York, even to the theater, in a cover basket.
"He lost his teeth, but I had some dentures made for him by a veterinarian," she explained.
Sandra takes such blessings as an 18 inch waist for granted . She's a size five and can eat half a cake a day.
"I'm not a cake eater, though," she said. "I prefer something more solid. Sometimes between pictures I gain five pounds but I can take it off in a week."
