leaped into rough water from


a motor boat off Kings Beach


at Lake Tahoe on the California


-Nevada border when he heard a 


young boy screaming for help 


about 150 feet from shore.


He rescued the drowning youth


and took him back to shore. 


But refusing a heroes welcome



singer Darin commented :



"I'm such a lousy swimmer.


 If it had been any farther,


someone would of had to 


save us both."
