Aussie singer/songwriter Danny McVey has recently released an album of original tunes entitled "One Step Ahead." The finale song on the album is a heart-warming tribute to the great Bobby Darin.

 

Danny writes:
For me Bobby Darin has always been the standout, legendary performer to successfully combine different musical styles in his repertoire. From his early years as a successful Rock and Roll singer, through the swing albums and on to include a touch of jazz and a significant amount of folk, Bobby could do it all. When he performed songs in these various musical styles he didn't just do them justice, he set the benchmark, and for me the results have always been inspirational.

I don't think anybody has ever been in the same league as Bobby when it comes to singing up-tempo swing. I've always considered his timing to be impeccable and his phrasing flawless, but Bobby also had an intangible quality which brought his songs to life. That aspect of his singing has always fascinated me and led me to write "Swing That Tune Mr. Darin." I often reflect how my times as a singer have been made richer because of Bobby's songs, "Swing That Tune Mr. Darin" is my thank-you.
