Bobby Darin
Jack Wagner Interview
Jack Wagner: Well, as they used to say in the OLD radio days, guess
who just walked in?
Bobby Darin: (As James Cagney) Ahhh ... I'll tell you who just walked in
here, Jimmy Cagney, that's who!
JW: No, no, no, no ... not Jimmy Cagney.
BD: (As James Stewart): Well, maybe it was a ... maybe it was James Stewart ...
JW: No not James Stewart ... try Bobby Darin!
BD: Bobby who?
JW: (Laughing) How are you, Bob?
BD: Very well, Jack ... and you?
JW: Fine, I'm thrilled over this new album of yours, Bob.
BD: Thank you.
JW: You should make an album of impressions, you know that? You're very good ...
BD: (As Walter Brennan) Well, I say boys I'd do it, but they keep on suein' me! (As Bobby)
No, I did at one time, well, let's see, I've done it many times in night clubs of course. I've done a whole routine of
about 12 or 13 impressions, but I don't think it would really hold up on a LP ... ALONE, you know, I might insert it ...
maybe some live performance, sometime I might do it ...
JW: Bob, your involved in so many facets of show business, singing, acting, publishing,
composing ... do you have a favorite among these?
BD: I would rather act then do anything else in the entire world, Jack ... that doesn't mean
I don't like to sing, I love to sing, but if somebody said to me, "What would you rather do?" I would say act ...
JW: Now you're in the publishing business, too ...
BD: Well, that's because there's money in it, and I love money. I don't get paid for
acting you see ... I pay them, so I have to get the money from somewhere, so I run a publishing firm.
JW: Now, your situated in Hollywood here with some offices and you some offices
in New York too ...
BD: Yes, I have a staff of 20 people between here and New York and I also have worldwide
representation offices in London and Australia and all over ...
JW: Well, you've certainly worked hard for it, Bobby and I hope things just keep growing
and growing for you.
BD: I hope so.
JW: Bob, thank you so much for coming by again.
BD: My pleasure as always, Jack.
JW: Good to see you.
BD: Thank you.
