A renaissance artist,
Darin refused to confine himself to a single genre. Whatever he
performed he infused with heart, rhythm, and soul. Some critics,
incapable of internalizing Darin's versatility, dismiss him. But
they reveal only their own intellectual limits. In his 37 years,
Darin painted a mosaic of twentieth-century American music. If someone
a thousand years from now seeks a single ambassador of music from
our last century, the choice will not prove difficult.
