In 1962 when Bobby's first Capitol LP, Oh! Look
at Me Now, was released the label sent out these interviews of Bobby to radio stations around the country to promote the album. They were
open-ended interviews, with dead air so the local DJs could read the questions thus giving the listener the feeling Bobby was really
in the studio. Below is one of those interviews.
DJ: Now I'd like you to meet one of the leading actors and entertainers in show business today ... BOBBY DARIN.
Bobby: Well thank you ... glad to be on the show.
DJ: According to the press, Bobby, this has been a pretty busy year for you!
Bobby: I guess it has ... but I'm enjoying it, I can tell you that ... and everybody else seems to be a little on the happy
side ... my manager, my agent and so forth ... so ... that's the important thing.
DJ: Right! Say, I understand you wrote yourself a couple of SONGS this year too!
Bobby: Yes, I'm very happy to say that a couple of my attempts were ... able to make the charts ... after a few weeks. One was
a thing called "Things" and another record was called "Multiplication" from a motion picture. So I'm kinda thrilled.
DJ: Well, I guess the title of your new album makes a lot more sense than I thought!
Bobby: (Chuckle)
DJ: It's called, Oh! Look at Me Now ... and I'd like to play something from it right about here ... (music sneaks in) ... One of
my favorties from the album ... a really fresh Billy May arrangement of a song that's been around a long time. Here's my special guest,
Bobby Darin to sing "I'm Beginning to See the Light."
Music: Excerpt of "I'm Beginning to See the Light" --Bobby Darin--
Bobby: Wowee! I'll tell ya, that Billy May's too much.
DJ: Oh, he's great all right!
Bobby: You know, we had some ball making this album ...
DJ: I'll BET you did! -- My guest, BOBBY DARIN from his new album Oh! Look at Me Now that was "I'm Beginning to See the Light."
Bobby: You know, I sure appreciate your letting me drop in on you like this.
DJ: Are you kidding? It's my pleasure, Bobby.
Bobby: Well thank you ... maybe we can get together again some time.
DJ: I sure HOPE so ...
Bobby: Tell ya what ... I'll be back in Hollywood tomorrow ... why don't you give me a buzz when you can ... and we'll talk over the phone.
DJ: Great!
Bobby: And keep up the beautiful work on the show.
